NetSuite Introduces SuiteSkills: Bringing AI to Financial Analysis, Cash Flow, and Business Operations

On October 26, 2026, Oracle NetSuite announced SuiteSkills at SuiteWorld in Las Vegas. These prebuilt business skills combine NetSuite’s product and industry expertise, enterprise financial and operational information, and AI reasoning to help teams investigate business issues, understand their impact, and take action within established roles and permissions.

For CEOs, CFOs, and business leaders, SuiteSkills is noteworthy because it extends AI into specific management tasks—from explaining financial fluctuations and identifying potential billing gaps to investigating inventory exceptions and supporting project planning—bringing AI more closely into everyday business management.

What Is SuiteSkills?

SuiteSkills is a collection of prebuilt skills designed for business scenarios. It works with AI models connected through the NetSuite AI Connector Service and can also be accessed through Ask Oracle in NetSuite Next.

These skills combine business process knowledge with AI reasoning to help AI understand how to perform specific tasks, reducing the need for users to repeatedly explain workflows and organize execution steps. NetSuite remains the core system for business data, processes, and actions. Access to information and permitted actions continue to be governed by NetSuite roles and permissions.

According to NetSuite, more than 13,000 customers have adopted the NetSuite AI Connector Service. SuiteSkills builds on this connectivity to provide support for specific business tasks.

Six Business Areas Connecting Analysis with Follow-Up Actions

NetSuite announced more than 45 SuiteSkills covering six key business areas.

Financial Analysis and Close

SuiteSkills helps explain material variances, identify close blockers, and review reconciliation differences. For example, the Variance and Flux Analysis skill distinguishes recurring changes, timing effects, and one-time items, helping finance teams prepare management commentary and focus on issues that require further investigation.

Billing and Cash Flow

By identifying potential billing gaps, prioritizing overdue invoices, and assessing liquidity, SuiteSkills helps teams manage revenue and cash flow. The Revenue Leakage skill helps distinguish potential underbilling and unbilled deliveries from accounting anomalies, providing direction for further review.

Inventory and Fulfillment

These skills help operations teams investigate inventory imbalances, fulfillment delays, and work order cost variances. Skills such as Inventory Movement Insights and Fulfillment Performance Insights help employees understand the causes of exceptions and determine appropriate next steps.

Projects and Service Delivery

The Project Operations Assistant converts statements of work (SOWs) into editable project plans, helps assess staffing capacity, and recommends people who match the required roles. It also supports creating projects and tasks based on reviewed and approved plans, reducing repetitive planning work.

Sales and Customer Service

The Sales Assistant and Customer Support Assistant use relevant customer and case information to provide analysis, suggested responses, and recommended next steps. This helps employees reduce manual information gathering and prepare more effectively for customer conversations.

Workforce Management

These skills help identify labor spending patterns and discrepancies between time records and payroll, supporting cost investigations and payroll reconciliation preparation. Access to employee information remains subject to NetSuite permissions.

What Does This Mean for Business Management?

The announcement indicates that AI in ERP is moving beyond information retrieval toward analysis and action supported by business process knowledge.

For finance leaders, the value lies in identifying exceptions more quickly, investigating cash flow issues, and producing analysis that can be reviewed. For operations and project leaders, the benefits include reducing information preparation, understanding delivery risks, and organizing follow-up tasks more effectively.

The effectiveness of these capabilities also depends on underlying data quality, consistent business definitions, permission settings, and review procedures. Before analyzing project profitability, for example, organizations need to establish clear cost allocation and revenue recognition rules. Investigating billing gaps also requires checking the relationships among contracts, deliveries, and invoices.

Melin’s Perspective: Start with Clearly Defined Business Problems

Organizations integrating ERP and AI can prioritize well-defined business scenarios with verifiable outcomes, such as monthly expense variance analysis, overdue receivables reviews, inventory exception investigations, or project delivery risk assessments.

During implementation, teams should establish data sources, metric definitions, user permissions, and responsibilities for human review, while assessing each skill’s suitability for their actual business operations. Building experience through specific use cases before gradually expanding adoption can help translate AI capabilities into sustained management improvements.

As an Oracle NetSuite service partner, Melin provides consulting, implementation, system integration, and ongoing optimization services across finance, supply chain, project management, and global operations, helping organizations establish the data and process foundations needed to support business growth.
